Absolutely. The Ballycotton walk is specifically designed for older adults and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours at a leisurely pace with plenty of spots to rest. We've guided hundreds of people in their 60s, 70s, and beyond who haven't been on a trail in decades—what matters is choosing the right pace and taking breaks when you need them.
Wear comfortable walking shoes with good grip (not trainers), layers you can add or remove, and bring water and a light snack. The coastal wind can be cool even on warm days, so a windproof layer is smart. We recommend a small backpack and sunscreen—you'll be exposed on the cliffs.
Our groups are kept small—usually between 6 and 12 people—so you get personal attention and everyone stays together comfortably. This size works really well for conversation and makes it easy for our guides to help anyone who needs it.
We've worked with people managing arthritis, knee concerns, and hip problems. The trail is mostly gentle, but there are a few steeper sections. We recommend having a chat with us before booking so we can discuss what sections might be tricky for you and suggest adjustments or alternative routes.
We run walks from April through October, with most people preferring May to September for better weather and longer daylight. Winter walks are possible but less frequent because the cliffs can be slippery and daylight is short. Spring and early autumn offer gorgeous views without summer crowds.
